Barcelona’s coach, Xavi Hernández, reiterated in a press conference that he has never felt favored by referees and stated that he is “completely in disagreement” with the conclusions of the report presented by the Civil Guard regarding the ‘Negreira case.’ The Blaugrana coach stands by the statements he made months ago.

As reported this Saturday by the newspaper ‘El Mundo,’ the Civil Guard determined that the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) had “irregular functioning” and that its decisions “may not have always had sporting support” during the years under investigation.

“NEVER IN MY LIFE, AFTER 17 YEARS IN THE FIRST TEAM, AND NOW AS A COACH, HAVE I EVER FELT FAVORED. I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH THE CIVIL GUARD.”

“I have never in my life, after 17 years with the first team, and even more so now as a coach, felt that I have been favored. I completely disagree with the Civil Guard,” Xavi stated in the press room of the Joan Gamper Sports City.

A court in Barcelona is investigating the Barcelona football club, as well as former presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, among others, for alleged offenses of corruption among individuals in the sports field, disloyal administration, and falsification of commercial documents related to payments made to the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), José María Enríquez Negreira.
