India vs Sri Lanka: The final match of the Asia Cup 2023 will be played between India and Sri Lanka. This will be the 8th title clash between the two teams in the tournament.
India vs Sri Lanka in Asia Cup Final: The Asia Cup 2023 has seen India and Sri Lanka emerge as the finalists. The title clash of the tournament will take place on September 17th, Sunday, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India was the first team to secure a spot in the final. Following that, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the Super Four to earn their ticket to the title match. It’s not the first time in Asia Cup history that India and Sri Lanka are facing each other in the final. Prior to this, both teams have squared off in the final seven times.
The first final between them was played in 1988, which India won. In the seven finals played between them so far, India has won 4 titles, maintaining a lead, while Sri Lanka has clinched the title 3 times against India. Their second title clash took place in 1991, where India emerged victorious once again. Then, in 1995, in another title clash between them, India once more secured the title.
First India, then Sri Lanka achieved consecutive title hat-tricks.
In the title clashes played between India and Sri Lanka, India initially secured a hat-trick of consecutive wins. Following that, in 1997, 2004, and 2008, Sri Lanka achieved a hat-trick of wins in finals against India. However, after that, their most recent title clash took place in 2010, in which India emerged victorious and took the lead in titles. Now, it will be interesting to see which team prevails in the title clash of 2023. Will there be an equal contest in the title rivalry between the two, or will India maintain its lead?
