Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat of 228 runs against India. After this loss, the Pakistani team is in a difficult situation.

Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam is extremely disappointed after a heavy 228-run defeat against India in the Round-4 match of the Asia Cup. Accepting the team’s mistakes, Babar Azam said that Pakistan’s performance was poor in both the bowling and batting departments. The chances of Pakistan reaching the final have also diminished after this loss to India.

Babar Azam also attempted to attribute the weather as a factor, saying, ‘We can’t control the weather. Our team made a full effort. However, our performance in both the bowling and batting departments was not up to the mark.’

Babar Azam praised the plan of the Indian team, saying, ‘India’s openers started with a plan. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came with a well-thought-out approach. Then, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul followed the same plan. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj were getting the ball to swing. Our batting didn’t live up to expectations.

An Easy Path Ahead for India

India set a formidable target of 356 runs for Pakistan while batting first. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played magnificent centuries, while Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma contributed with half-centuries. In response, Pakistan’s team was bowled out for just 128 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets. With this win, India recorded their biggest victory over Pakistan in the One-Day format.

With this loss, Pakistan’s net run rate has significantly deteriorated, and their chances of reaching the final have diminished. Even if Sri Lanka manages to defeat Pakistan, they will secure a place in the final. The path to the final has become quite easy for India now. India will face the challenge of Bangladesh in the remaining matches of Round-4, apart from Sri Lanka.
