Brandon Aubrey will seek to establish himself with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, after his stint in MLS soccer.

Brandon Aubrey, the 28-year-old rookie kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, officially made his debut in the NFL regular season.

Aubrey played soccer for a long time, and during his time in college, he further developed his passion for this sport.

In 2017, he was selected in the 21st overall pick of the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC, coming from Notre Dame.

Unable to secure a spot in the first team, he went to try his luck with Toronto FC II in the USL Championship before later moving to Bethlehem Steel, the affiliate of the Philadelphia Union.

As the story goes, one day he was watching an NFL game on television with his wife, and after seeing the team’s kickers, she said, ‘You could do that.

Following that, he decided to give one last shot at the sport and hired a coach, in addition to practicing on his own during the pandemic.

Three years later, the Birmingham Stallions selected him as the starting kicker for the 2022 season (the inaugural campaign of the USFL, United States Football League).

Now, in 2023, he is the starting kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. In Week 1, in the overwhelming 40-0 victory over the New York Giants, although he missed the first extra point, he recovered and scored 2 field goals: the first from 21 yards, the second from 38 yards, and 4 extra points.

His salary in the MLS in 2017: $65,000

NFL minimum salary in 2023: $750,000
