Asia Cup: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Ehsan Mani, has sent an email to ACC President Jay Shah, demanding compensation for the low ticket sales due to rain in Sri Lanka.
PCB Demands Compensation From ACC: After the schedule of the Asia Cup 2023 was announced, a decision was made to host 4 matches in Pakistan and 9 matches in Sri Lanka. So far, out of the 3 matches played in Sri Lanka, 2 had to be canceled due to rain, while the result of one was determined by the Duckworth-Lewis method. According to some reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now demanded compensation from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for the low ticket sales due to rain.
PCB has not issued any official statement on this matter, but reports suggest that PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has sent an email to ACC President Jay Shah, requesting compensation for the losses incurred due to matches held in Sri Lanka. He has also expressed disappointment with ACC’s handling of the scheduling of matches in Sri Lanka.
Considering heavy rain in Colombo, there had been discussions about shifting the matches to Hambantota. Without naming anyone, the PCB chief questioned who was responsible for suddenly changing the venue of matches without informing any of the ACC board members. The decision to have the matches in Hambantota was made after the host countries and ACC members’ meeting on September 5th, and Sri Lanka’s chief pitch curator had traveled there afterward. At that time, ACC decided to refuse any change of venue without any consultation, and the matches were scheduled to be held in Candy and Colombo.
The India-Pakistan match in Colombo is once again under the threat of rain.
On September 10th, India and Pakistan will face off in the Super 4 stage at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This match is also under the shadow of possible rain. While the Indian team has already arrived in Colombo from Kandy, the Pakistan team will depart for Colombo today from Lahore after defeating Bangladesh in the Super 4 stage.
